Nucleoside ester prodrug substrate specificity of liver carboxylesterase.
Carboxylesterases are among the best characterized prodrug-hydrolyzing enzymes involved in the activation of several therapeutic carbamate and ester prodrugs. The broad specificity of these enzymes makes them amenable for designing prodrugs. Porcine liver carboxylesterase 1 specificity for amino acid esters of three nucleoside analogs [floxuridine, gemcitabine, and 2-bromo-5,6-dichloro-1-(beta-...

Nucleoside 2'-deoxyribosyltransferase (NDT) from the psychrophilic bacterium Bacillus psychrosaccharolyticus CECT 4074 has been cloned and produced for the first time. A preliminary characterization of the recombinant protein indicates that the enzyme is an NDT type II since it catalyzes the transfer of 2'-deoxyribose between purines and pyrimidines. The enzyme (BpNDT) displays a high activity ...
متن کاملGenome of the Psychrophilic Bacterium Bacillus psychrosaccharolyticus, a Potential Source of 2′-Deoxyribosyltransferase for Industrial Nucleoside Synthesis
Here we report the draft genome sequence of Bacillus psychrosaccharolyticus, a cold-adapted bacterium with biotechnological interest. The genome contains genes related to the ability of this microorganism to grow at low temperatures and includes a nucleoside 2'-deoxyribosyltransferase, which can be used in the industrial synthesis of modified nucleosides with therapeutic activity.
متن کاملSubstrate and Inhibitor Specificity of the Plasmodium berghei Equilibrative Nucleoside Transporter Type 1.
Malaria is a critical public health issue in the tropical world, causing extensive morbidity and mortality. Infection by unicellular, obligate intracellular Plasmodium parasites causes malaria. The emergence of resistance to current antimalarial drugs necessitates the development of novel therapeutics. A potential novel drug target is the purine import transporter. Because Plasmodium parasites ...
